Awoniyi's Maulud Message To Muslims

The Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Mr Yomi Awoniyi, has called on Muslims to celebrate Maulud Nabiyyi with prayers for the unity and economic prosperity of the state and the nation.

Awoniyi made the call in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Michael Abu, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lokoja on Tuesday.

The deputy governor, who congratulated Muslims on this year’s celebration of Maulud Nabiyyi, also called on Muslims in the state to pray for the success of Gov. Idris Wada’s administration.

Awoniyi urged Muslims to have the fear of God and spirit of sharing with the needy as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad during his lifetime.

He called on Muslims to make the lessons of Maulud Nabiyyi, the birthday of the Prophet, a lasting experience through sustained devotion to Allah.

While appealing to the Muslims to uphold the peaceful teachings of the Quran and the Holy Prophet, Awoniyi stated that Nigeria needs prayers for succour to the nation’s numerous challenges.

He, therefore, advised Muslims and other Nigerians to shun vices that could hinder the country’s advancement in all areas of human endeavours.

The deputy governor described this year’s Maulud Nabiyyi celebration as unique as it came at a time Nigeria was marking its 100 years of existence as a nation.
