Channels TV reports that Alkali Usman Baba, the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), made the disclosure on Thursday, May 27.

Baba who stated this at a presidential briefing at the Statehouse in Abuja, explained that the aftermath of the EndSARS protest also affected the spirits of the officers.
According to the acting IGP, NPF has recorded successes against secessionist groups and criminals in the southeast region of Nigeria.
However, he noted that the prosecution to ensure justice is served remains a major challenge because of the ongoing strike by judiciary workers, The Guardian reports.
SARS disbandment
Recall that the NPF on Sunday, October 11, 2020, finally bowed to pressure as the former IGP Mohammed Adamu disbanded the controversial police unit, SARS.
The disbandment, which was announced by the IGP during a nationwide address, is unarguably historical — a total validation of the massive #EndSARS protests by the Nigerian youths.

In a related development, Baba said Nigeria Police Force is poorly funded and has no money for its operations despite the serious security situation in the country.
The police boss made this known on Wednesday, April 21, when he met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
