Ugandan Govt Receives Nigerian Technical Aid Volunteers in Kampala
- 33 Nigerian technical aid volunteers have arrived in Kampala, the capital of Uganda

The Ugandan government has officially received the Nigerian delegation of aid volunteers who had earlier departed the shores of Nigeria for a foreign mission in Uganda.
The delegates who departed Nigeria on Wednesday, April 28 were treated to the best of Ugandan hospitality and reception when they arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Kampala, the capital of the East African country on Thursday, April 29.
The aid volunteers are university lecturers on a mission to strengthen the Ugandan education system and also boost Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with her African neighbour.

They were successful in the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps’ (DTAC) screening exercise after responding to an advertisement on Monday, March 22.
The technical aid volunteers numbering 33 in all, are expected to provide expertise which will boost the East African country’s education sector during the 2-years duration of their foreign expedition in Uganda.
Briefing newsmen including a Legit.ng reporter at DTAC’s headquarters on Friday, April 30 representative of the Director-General, Dr. Pius O. Osunyikanmi at the event, Mohammed Shehu said the government and people of Uganda are overjoyed with this cheering news.
His words:
‘‘The Ugandan government appreciates and values this gesture of brotherhood and camaraderie by Nigeria.
‘‘This is indeed a show of love by Nigeria as a big brother to other African Countries, which is proof of the oneness which runs in our veins as Africans.’’
Speaking further, Shehu opined:
‘‘This warm reception and passionate welcome by Uganda, underscores the efficacy of Nigeria’s foreign policy - especially in the area of diplomatic relations with our neighbors - and strengthens the nation’s continental leadership position which is a sine qua non for socio-economic development, for relevance in the global scheme of things.’’
He then went on to furnish the press with pictorial proofs of the warm reception the volunteers received, all the way from the Ugandan airport to the Nigerian Embassy in Uganda – the venue of the hospitality treat.
Legit.ng had earlier reported that on Wednesday, April 28, DTAC dispatched 33 volunteers to Uganda, while more are expected to be deployed to other neighbouring needy African countries in response to humanitarian needs to cushion the biting economic downturn.
All those deployed are expected to lecture in Ugandan universities until the year 2023.
In a related development, at least 144 Nigerian police officers have arrived in Somalia to boost stabilization efforts in the country where they are expected to mentor the Somali Police Force and assist in public order management.
While some of the officers have been deployed to several states in the country, the remaining officials will serve in various roles in the capital, Mogadishu.
The officers will perform duties like regular patrols at checkpoints, guard static duties, and other assignments that involve general policing.
