- Entrepreneur Pretty Mike has expressed displeasure at singer Seyi Shay attitude as a judge of a singing competition
- The socialite said he was unhappy when he saw the way the singer addressed a contestant
- Pretty Mike said there is a difference between constructive criticism and undiluted harshness
Nightlife businessman Pretty Mike has chided singer Seyi Shay for how she addresses contestants in the Nigerian Idol singing competition.
The singer recently told a 19-year-old girl that she cannot sing and shouldn't think of plying that route for her future career.
Recalling how his high school teacher built a choir from students who are not good at singing, Pretty Mike stated that his teacher told him that everyone can sing.
"Having seen a video of a 19 years old girl auditioning at Nigerian Idols and Seyi Shay specifically saying she can’t sing and shouldn’t consider plying that route is the sickest thing I’ve seen recently, Kindness is so easy to give, I really don’t know why people choose otherwise. She’s just a lady with a dream!
"Killing people’s confidence can only stem from a place of deepseethed insecurity and hate. It sickened me watching that girl grovel for an opportunity that wasn’t even worth her dignity.
"I pray she learns and works on her voice. I pray she understands that a thousand Seyi Shays don’t have the final say over her aspirations and life.
"For the judges of these shows and auditions, the gap between constructive criticism and undiluted harshness is as wide as the Pacific Ocean, they can never be the same. For contestants of Nigerian idols, Big brother Naija and every other reality or talent hunt show out there, I want you to know that your dreams are valid and achievable."

In other news, Legit.ng earlier reported that Seyi Shay shattered the heart of a 17-year-old Nigeria Idol Contestant.
The singer sparked mixed reactions in the online community following her feedback to a 17-year-old boy who auditioned to be a part of the current season of Nigerian Idol.
Seyi was not impressed by the young man’s attempt at singing and she made no effort in sugar-coating her feedback.
The Irawo crooner told the young man that someone close must have lied to him by egging him on to try out the audition.
