Governor Hope Uzodinma on Sunday, April 11 declared that Ndigbo wants justice, equity, fairness, and not Biafra.

Uzodinma made the comment while delivering his opening address at a southeast security meeting, in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

He said in the address sent to Legit.ng:

“What Ndigbo wants is justice, equity, and fairness. A Nigeria that provides a level playing ground for all citizens. That is what we want, not Biafra.”

He continued:

“Like I have propounded time after time, Igbo are not at war with anyone neither is anyone at war with Ndigbo. The fact of the matter is that Igbo are the highest stakeholders in Nigeria.
“Igbo have seen war, not in storybooks or in movies but real war. No right-thinking Igbo, who experienced the excruciating and devastating effects of the civil war on Igboland and our people, will vote for another war.
“Those creating the erroneous impression that Igbo want to leave Nigeria are either naive or mischievous. Igbo need Nigeria just like Nigeria and Nigerians need Igbo.”

Some Nigerians have been responding to the governor's comment.

Okoro Ugwu Nwachukwu wrote on Twitter:

“You are still living in the past, we have gone beyond that level.”

Paul Nwaogu wrote:

“Uzodinma likes to talk carelessly as an unguarded politician that he represents. Biafran youths, MNK, IPOB, and lovers of freedom are working assiduously for the restoration of Biafra.”

Legit.ng had earlier reported that at the summit, the southeast governors' forum launched its own joint security outfit for the region codenamed 'Ebube Agu.'

The headquarters of the newly-formed security outfit will be in Enugu state.

Recall that a recent report indicates that security operatives have become endangered species in the southeast geo-political zone of Nigeria.

According to the report, 40 attacks have been launched in 2021 alone in the emerging trend of the onslaught on security personnel and wanton destruction of security facilities and operational assets.
