Olivier Giroud scored the all-important goal in that meeting and will be looking to find his scoring boots once again to steer his side to the quarter-finals.

However, injured duo Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham remain sidelined and will play no role in the second leg to be staged at Stamford Bridge.

Jorginho and Mason Mount are also unavailable for selection, with the pair suspended for the encounter.

The absence of the quartet will undoubtedly give Tuchel a major concern as they come against a spirited Atletico side.

In his pre-match conference, the German tactician admitted the absence of the four and that of Mount, in particular, is a massive blow to his side, underscoring the Englishman's importance to his squad.

"We have no fresh injuries but we are without two key players for us tomorrow in Mount and Jorginho,’ Tuchel explained at his pre-match press conference," Chelsea website cited Tuchel.

"Especially with Mason for his offensive skills and his power to break the lines with strong dribbling and his shots. Atletico are one of the best teams in Europe for not giving shooting chances away, so of course, it’s a blow to miss an offensive player for a game such as this one," he added.

The former PSG boss will now be hoping the rest of the team steps up to get the job done in London for a chance to secure a spot in the last eight.

Chelsea remain unbeaten in 10 matches across competitions which Tuchel has managed since his arrival at Stamford Bridge at the end of January.
