PSG make big statement on Neymar ahead of Champions League return leg against Barcelona

Brazilian superstar Neymar is now on the verge of facing his former club Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie which will come up in France.

Paris Saint-Germain will be going into this encounter with boosted morale having defeated the Spanish giants in the first leg with Kylian Mbappe netting three goals against the Catalans.

Neymar sustained a groin injury in the encounter and was unable to play for Paris Saint-Germain in the clash against his former side.

According to the latest report on Daily Mail, Paris Saint-Germain stated clearly that Neymar has started individual training and decision on his return to the pitch will soon be made.

''Neymar is carrying on his rehab and his individual work on the pitch, a return to squad training will be evaluated come the end of the week.
''Angel Di Maria is back as scheduled and has progressively been training with the squad over the last 48 hours.''

As things stand now, Neymar will be available for selection against his former side if he is fit enough for the Champions League clash.

Last season, the Brazilian helped Paris Saint-Germain to reach the final of the Champions League before they lost against German side Bayern Munich.

PSG are currently occupying second position on the French League table with 57 points and they are two points behind leaders Lille.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Neymar was outraged after Barcelona were handed a penalty in their Champions League round of 16 first leg clash where PSG dominated the encounter to win 4-1 away from home.

The Brazilian superstar who is injured watched the game from home and was upset with the referee’s decision to hand the Catalan giants a spot-kick after Frenkie de Jong had his legs clipped by Layvin Kurzawa.

But he quickly deleted the tweet as Lionel Messi converted the penalty to hand the hosts an early lead in the encounter.

The incident left Neymar baffled at how the decision could be given, which saw him take to Twitter to give his followers his reaction.
