Silento, famously known for Watch me Nae Nae, charged with murder

US rapper Ricky Hawk better known as Silento has been apprehended.

The musician known for his one-hit-wonder Watch Me Whip has been accused of killing his cousin.

Reports indicate officers in Georgia responded to a complaint by neighbours about gunshots fired within the neighbourhood.

The incident took place on January 21, 2021, at around 3:30am.

Authorities stated that the rapper was placed in custody on Monday, February 2.

The celebrity’s cousin, Fredrick Rooks who was 34 at the time of his death, was found lying on the floor with gunshot wounds on January 21, 2021.

DeKalb County Police Department said in a Twitter statement:

“Today, Ricky Hawk, 23, was arrested for the murder of his cousin Frederick Rooks, 34. On January 21, the DeKalb County Police Department investigated Rooks' death after he was found shot on Deep Shoals Circle. Hawk is in the DeKalb County Jail charged with murder.”

In an almost similar incident reported by Legit.ng two years back, Grammy-nominated US rapper Nipsey Hussle was pronounced dead after being shot while standing outside his clothing store.

Legit.ng understands Nipsey was pronounced dead at the hospital on the night of Sunday, March 31, 2019, and two other men were also victims of the shooting.

According to police reports, the rapper who was also actress Lauren London’s lover was declared dead in hospital. The other victims are currently in stable condition.

The assailant disappeared soon after the shooting and arrests are yet to be made. Police believe he either fled on foot or in a car. Los Angeles police described the shooter as a black male.
