The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has lent his voice in full support of the cause of Sunday Igboho, the embattled Oyo activist.

In an interview with Legit.ng, Gani said he is strongly behind Igboho because he is fighting a good cause.

The powerful Yoruba leader said the famous Igangan native is only speaking the minds of the people since a lot of persons have realised that there is an insecurity problem in the southwest.

He confessed that the internal issue facing the region far outweighs what really meets the eye on the outside because most of the violent crimes in southwest states are carried out by natives.

Gani based this argument on the claim that states in the zone are made up of over 70% indigene and about 25% sojourners like Fulani herdsmen.

The Yoruba spiritual warlord said Igboho did what he did out of pressure from his people who see him as a leader in the community.

Meanwhile, Igboho had extended a note of gratitude to prominent southwest leaders including monarchs and political statesmen.

Igboho, who spoke in a now-viral video, said he is indebted to people like Dele Momodu, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former governor Ayodele Fayose and former president Olusegun Obasanjo for speaking up against his arrest.

Also, notable among those he mentioned in his appreciation remark are Chief Alao Akala (former Oyo state governor), renowned writer, poet and critic Professor Wole Soyinka.

Southwest kings he praised for their efforts are Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Olubadan of Ibadan, Ataoja of Osogbo, Soun of Ogbomosho, Alake of Egbaland, Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Akiolu of Lagos.
