- Bashir Ahmed has started a controversy on social media after Atiku makes demands from Joe Biden
- Atiku had asked the New president to remove every restriction against Nigerians
- The Buhari aide consequently used the opportunity to subtly claim Atimu did something bad in the US
A personal assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has subtly mocked the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku over his post on President Joe Biden.
Atiku in his post had called on the newly sworn-in president to remove every restriction Nigerian citizens. In reply, Ahmad simply wrote: "We all see what you did there, Alhaji."
A little context here.
Leading up to Nigeria's last presidential election in which Atiku contested against Bashir's leader, Buhari, there were allegations that the former VP could not enter the United States of America without being arrested.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) used the allegation as propaganda against the candidacy of Atiku. In fact, after Atiku eventually visited the US, he was alleged to have bought his way there to score political points at home.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have swiftly taken to social media to react to the subtle dig on Atiku.
@Eusebuiskay in his reaction wrote:
"He's soliciting on their behalf. Smiling face with open mouth and tightly-closed eyes. But on a very serious note those guys don't rate us, they'll always find a way to support themselves irrespective of political affiliation."
"Exactly my thoughts. I bet he's looking for a soft landing. With the way he is being investigated, I doubt if he will be able to get into the US anytime soon."
"We support travel ban for corrupt Nigerian politicians and those who preside over corrupt government. @atiku should remain banned. @MBuhari should also be added to the long list."
@abuidris94 also said:
"Oga Bashir, I am a full blown core Buharists. But please Atiku is not your mate, he's a grandpa to you, just respect yourself and allow his mate to be replying him just as Buhari stopped Adesina from replying OBJ."
Recall that Legit.ng had reported that as world leaders continue to share the olive branch with the new American government, Atiku Abubakar, former Nigerian vice president and 2019 general election presidential flagbearer, has congratulated the duo of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their inauguration as US president and vice respectively.
In a statement on his Facebook page, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain expressed confidence in Biden-Harris administration solidifying
"America's regeneration and her reaffirmation as the beacon of democracy to the world." Atiku, however, tabled three demands before the new administration as outlined by Legit.ng.
