Aisha Buhari’s aide shuns talks on her whereabouts amid Dubai rumours

Aliyu Abdullahi, a senior media and publicity aide to the office of the First Lady Aisha Buhari, on Tuesday, December 29, refused to disclose the whereabouts of the president's wife.

Speaking on Channels TV's Politics Today, the presidential aide said he was not making an appearance on the programme to speak on the First Lady's whereabouts, adding that she is entitled to her privacy.

As Legit.ng closely monitors, there has been a fuss and controversies over Mrs Buhari's whereabouts in the last couple of months, with some people saying she has jetted out to Dubai amid backdoor bustles in the presidency.

Mrs Buhari, a staunch critic of her husband's government and ruling party All Progressives Congres (APC), was said to have fled to the Arab country to find solace away from the political distractions of the country among other reasons.

When asked about her (Aisha's) whereabouts, Abdullahi maintained that she is entitled her private life.

He argued that though Mrs Buhari is married to the president, she is a citizen who is entitled to her privacy.

“Let me say it this way again, the first lady, although married to the President, nevertheless, she is a citizen of this country who is entitled to her own right to privacy.
“If she chooses not to speak on a particular subject at any point in time, she is entitled to her own right to privacy and that is where I wish to leave that issue as of now. That is her own right, and she did not choose to speak at this time.”

Aisha not out of the country because of insecurity - Presidency

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Nigerian presidency dismissed a report claiming that the First Lady fled the country because of insecurity.

An aide to the president’s wife, Kabiru Dodo disclosed that Aisha travelled abroad for a medical checkup.

Dodo made the disclosure in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital when he attended an event on behalf of the Foundation of the First Lady.

Aisha Buhari unveils campaign against insecurity

Mrs Buhari on Sunday, October 18, unveiled another campaign against banditry and other forms of abnormalities in the country as Nigeria continues to grapple with many issues including insecurity.

The first lady made her mind known in a tweet via her Twitter handle. The campaign, #ArewaMufarka, was accompanied by two videos slides and one picture of five persons with the placards reading “EndInsecurityNow; EndBanditryNow; AllLivesMatters”.
