Jose Mourinho has advised Tottenham Hotspur players who are not happy at the club to go have a 'hot shower'.

The Portuguese-born manager made this comment after powering Spurs to a 2-0 win over Belgian side Royal Antwerp in the Europa League to stretch his unbeaten run across competitions.

A goal each from Vinicius and Giovani Lo Celso ensured the North London club progress to the next stage of the UEFA second-tier championship.

Mourinho was quoted by ESPN through BT Sport saying he was delighted with Harry Winks for adhering to his advice of taking a hot shower. He said:

"How can I keep them all happy? I don't think they're all happy at all, that's the nature of football, I can no make miracles.
"I told the players if they're not subbed on just go for a hot shower. I told every player that left the pitch to go because when the weather is cold I prefer they go to the dressing room and have a shower.
"Winks decided to go and I am happy with that because I am the one that told him to do it."

Mourinho's men will hope they can retain the top position for another week in the Premier League as they travel to Crystal Palace for their matchday 12.

Spurs currently lead the log with 24 points from 11 matches - the same points as Liverpool after the same number of games.

Meanwhile, Alli has moved from being the most preferred player for the former Chelsea handler to becoming a fringe player at the club having made just two league appearances this campaign.

The Englishman looked frustrated on the bench during the game but Mourinho stylishly addressed his case, saying:

"Let's not run away from reality. A player on the bench who realises all five subs have been used of course is not a happy player and I would not expect him to be happy."

Alli was linked with a move away from Spurs in the close season and could look for a transfer in next month's window to boost his chances of making England's Euro 2020 squad.
