Policemen, civilians killed in Lagos violence as CP Odumosu reveals casualties

- Lagos CP, Hakeem Odumosu, has disclosed the total casualties and damages during the recently-erupted violence in Lagos

- Odumosu said 16 police stations across the state were burnt while 13 were vandalised by the hoodlums who hijacked EndSARS protest

- The CP also revealed that four civilians and six policemen went with the tragic incident that saw many properties attacked, looted and vandalised

The Nigeria Police Force has announced that six of its operatives were killed during the violent confrontation between the officers and suspected hoodlums.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, October 27, the Lagos commissioner of police Hakeem Odumosu also said four people were killed while 38 cops were injured in the state.

Odumosu, who made this known while parading 520 suspects arrested over alleged role in the destruction and looting, further disclosed that 16 police stations were burnt and 13 vandalised.

He gave the names of the officers as ASP Yard Edward (Denton Police Station), Inspector Olayinka Erinfolami (defunct Anti Kidnapping Unit), Inspector Adegbenro Aderibigbe (Meiran Division).

Others are Sergeant Abejide Abiodun of the department of operations (DOPs), state headquarters and two others attached to Orile Division.

CP Odumosu said 58 police vehicles, 62 belonging to individuals were burnt while nine were vandalised by the hoodlums.

According to the police boss, high court complex Igbosere, Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Broad Street; Ejigbo LCDA secretariat; BRT Terminal Iddo (where 67 buses were burnt) were some of the public asset burnt.

Others are city hall in Lagos Island, COVID-19 warehouse at Monkey Village, BRT terminals at Ojodu and Ikotun, Ajeromi Ifelodun LG secretariat, NPA head office, Marina, and FRSC/VIO Office at Ojodu.

"Some private facilities, as well as other investments that were partly torched and vandalised/looted, included the Oba of Lagos’ Palace; Television Continental Station (TVC) at Ikosi-Ketu, Access Bank, GTBank and Ebeano Supermarket at Victoria Island, The Nation Newspaper office at Fatai Atere Street, Mushin, Shoprite Malls at Ajah, LTV 8, Alausa, Ikeja, Surulere, Samsung Outlet at Apple Roundabout, Festac, Shoprite at Festac, Samsung Office Oyingbo, etc."
