Legit.ng had earlier reported that the Rapid Response team of the Police Force arrested the person behind the attempted blackmail of the music icon over her nude photographs.
The 19-year-old suspect identified as Olufowoke Oladunjoye Emmanuel, in his confession to the police, admitted to being behind the blackmail and stated he acted alone.
According to a police report, Emmanuel who is a resident of Peace Estate in Magboro, Ogun state, was picked up by the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad on May 28.
The 2017/2018 electrical engineering student of Yabatech claimed he discovered the photos on a memory card which he picked up on the floor in his school in November 2019.
He then downloaded the photos and sent some to her using her phone number he obtained from her Instagram bio.
However, his attempt of blackmail failed when Abeni took to social media to report the blackmail, stating that someone wanted to tarnish her image.
