Photos reveal moment dethroned Emir Sanusi was sent on exile by Ganduje-led govt

Some photos obtained by Channels TV have shown how the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, was being sent on exiled by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led government.

Legit.ng reports that the embattled monarch was sent on an exile to Nassarawa state.

According to the report, the former Emir being sent on asylum amid tight security.

The former ruler of the Kano emirate was dethroned on Monday, March 9, following allegations of consistently refusing to abide by instructions given to him by the state government.

According to the secretary to the state government, Usman Alhaji, the removal was in line with the recommendation of the Kano state public complaint and anti-corruption commission which summoned the Emir.

In documents obtained by Channels Television and signed by the chairman of the commission, Sanusi was accused of obstructing the investigation of the commission.

The commission had asked the traditional ruler to respond to a petition accusing him of selling lands belonging to the Kano emirate to the tune of N2 billion.

Sanusi had, however, secured a restriction order from a court to stop the commission from investigating him.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Kano state government on Monday, March 9, dethroned Muhammad Sanusi II.

Sanusi's dethronement came after the state's council executive meeting presided over by the governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Confirming the development, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, Kano's secretary to the state government, said that the monarch's sack takes effect from Monday, March 9.

Also, it was reported that following the removal of Muhammad Sanusi II as the emir of Kano, the state government has announced Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the new emir for the ancient town.

Bayero, the son of late Emir Ado Bayero, replaced Muhammad Sanusi 11, who was dethroned and banished to Nasarawa state.

It was gathered that four kingmakers of Kano elected a new emir, following the deposition of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II earlier on Monday, March 9.
