Veteran actress Shan George has taken to social media to celebrate after she was appointed as the chairman of Callywood board. The actress thanked God for the appointment in a video shared on her Instagram page.

In her post on Instagram, the actress explained that the Callywood board is the movie body in Cross River state. The body was incorporated by the governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade.

The actress said she was shocked to find out that she has been appointed as the chairman. She said she worked all night and slept by 6:00am but when she woke up she got the good news.

George noted that she was appointed by Governor Ayade. She thanked him for thinking of her. She also thanked the people of Cross River state.

The 49-year-old veteran Nollywood actress is also a singer, film producer, and a movie director. She debuted as an actress in the movie Thorns of Rose, but before that, she had previously featured in a 1997 soap opera titled Winds of Destiny. She is best known for her role in the movies Outkast and Welcome to Nollywood.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that popular Nigerian actress Funke Adesiyan gained a political appointment in the office of the first lady of Nigeria, Hajia Aisha Buhari, in October 2019.

The appointment was announced on the official website of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture after it was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. It was reported that Adesiyan was appointed as the personal assistant to the first lady on domestic and social events.
