Queen Elizabeth speaks out about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry quitting senior royal duties

There was a new twist to the royal drama involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they announced on Wednesday, January 8, that they would like to be relieved of their royal duties.

On the Sussex royal twitter page, the couple had said they took the decision after much reflection, calling it a transition they had to make this year in the bid “to carve out a progressive new role within this institution”.

They added that they planned to be financially independent without withdrawing their support from her majesty, the Queen.

The Sussex royals further said they “would like to balance their time between the United Kingdom and North America”.

In response to the couple’s decision to stop performing their duties, the Buckingham Palace said though they understand their desire, what they asked for is complicated.

“Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through,” the palace said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that a close confidant of the couple identified as Tom Bradby disclosed that the royal couple is considering relocating to Canada.

Bradby said he does not ask the couple what their plans are, adding that there are a million possibilities of the couple relocating to Canada.

Bradby said: "I don't ask what their plans are. They keep that pretty close to their chest and understandably so. I don't think it’s a done deal, that would be my impression. There is a lot of talking to be done. There are a million possibilities. They could go to Canada."
