President Muhammadu Buhari will on January 1, speak to Nigerians in a nation-wide address as the country joins the world to mark the beginning of year 2020.
It is a tradition in Nigeria for the president to address the nation on a new year day.
The address would allow the president enumerate his achievements, the challenges of his administration and what the government projects as the country marches into the new year.
The president's address will be aired on NTA by 6am.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Ahmad Lawan, president of the Senate, said on Tuesday, December 31, that Nigeria will experience what he called robust peace and economic growth in 2020.
Lawan said this as part of his New Year message to Nigerians.
Congratulating the citizens, who are alive to see the end of 2019 and the beginning of the year 2020, Lawan commended Nigerians for their resilience and passion to ensure the unity and prosperity of the country.
He also thanked them for supporting the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
On its part, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked Nigerians to expect more democratic dividends from the Muhammadu Buhari administration in the year 2020.
The ruling party in a New Year message signed by its national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated that “Nigerians are assured that the ongoing massive infrastructural development covering the rail, road, agriculture, aviation, port, education and health sectors would be given a further fillip.”
The APC further stated that the Buhari government “is vigorously tackling and solving the social, economic and security challenges our country faces one after the other.”
