Gov Okowa salutes President Buhari at 77

- President Muhammadu Buhari would be celebrating his 77th birthday on Tuesday, December 17

- Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated the president as he turns 77

- Governor Okowa also commended the president for his patriotic and unrelenting service to the nation

Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari as he turns 77 on Tuesday, December 17.

In a statement sent to journalists by his spokesman, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, on Monday, December 16, the governor described the septuagenarian Nigerian leader as “a man committed to better the lots of Nigerians.”

He said that Buhari’s leadership had begun to pay off as Nigeria was getting better in some sectors, especially agriculture, as food imports had reduced considerably.

Okowa commended the president for his patriotic and unrelenting service to the nation, which according to him, has impacted positively in some sectors of the nation's economy.

He said: “On the occasion of your 77th birth anniversary on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, I write to heartily rejoice with you and your family on behalf of the government and people of Delta.

“In the past four and half years of your leadership, you have made sweeping reforms, including border closure and improvement in the ease of doing business.

"As a state, we appreciate the bailout funds and the Paris Club refunds which came at a time we were in dire need of funds to solve some challenges, especially payment of pensions and arrears of local government workers salary.

"Your life has been marked by a remarkable accomplishment and great personal fulfilment as you continue to serve our nation with great and an uncommon sense of patriotism and unwavering dedication."

Recall that Governor Okowa recently congratulated his Rivers state counterpart, Nyesom Wike, on his birthday.

Okowa said the Rivers Governor was a committed party man, who did everything to expand the frontiers and influence of the Peoples Democratic Party.
