A high court in Adamawa has ordered the inspector-general of police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to arrest Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former minister of petroleum resources, for allegedly giving a bribe of N362 million to two INEC officials during the 2015 presidential election.

The Cable reports that judge, Nathan Musa, issued the arrest order on Thursday, December 12, when he sentenced the officials who received the bribe from Diezani to jail terms.

The court ordered the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to effect the arrest of the former minister by working with the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL).

Legit.ng had reported that a high court in Yola had sentenced two staff of the INEC to a total of 42 years in prison after they were proven guilty of collecting bribe.

The verdict was delivered by the court which was presided over by Justice Nathan Musa on Thursday, December 12.

The court's ruling follows the charges that were brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Musa said that the INEC staff, Ibrahim Mohammed Umar and Sahabo Iya Hamman, will serve a jail term of seven years for each of the three count charges filed against them by the EFCC.

Meanwhile, an anti-corruption group known as Global Centre for Conscious Living Against Corruption (GLOCCOLAC) has asked Orji Uzor Kalu to resign from the Senate following his 12-year conviction for fraud.
