Zlatan Ibrahimovic could become Everton's next signing in the forthcoming January transfer window, reports claim.

The Merseyside giants are looking to make him the highest-paid player at Goodison Park in a bid to lure the 38-year-old.

Ibrahimovic has been a free agent since his contract with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy expired at the end of the season.

Top European sides are also plotting to sign the Swedish striker including AC Milan and Napoli and reports claim Ibrahimovic has been offered deals.

According to Italian news media outlet Areanapoli, Everton are willing to pay the former Barcelona striker £3.4million per year.

Brazilian winger Bernard is currently Everton's highest-paid player with his take-home pegged around £3.1m every year.

But it understood that it depends on who the Toffees appoint as their new manager that would determine if Zlatan will join the club in the winter window.
