Ronaldo scored a last minute winner as Juventus reclaimed top spot in Serie A after a 2-1 win against Genoa on Wednesday, September 30.

The 34-year-old made his return to the team after sitting out of Lecce's game but Juventus struggled to break down a resilient Genoa side in the early exchange.

However, the Bianconeri took the lead in the 36th minute after Bonucci powered his header into the net from a corner.

But Juventus lead didn't last for long as Ivorian international Christian Kouame scored his fifth goal of the season in the 40th minute.

A mix up in the Juve's defence allowed the forward convert his shot with great technique as Buffon could only watch the ball go into the net. Genoa went into the break the happier side with a 1-1 scoreline.

The away team were however reduced to 10 men just five minutes into the second half as Francesco Cassata received a second yellow and subsequently a red for pulling Dybala's shirt.

However, Juventus found it very difficult to break down Genoa as Dybala's shot in the 71st minute was well saved while Ronaldo headed wide in the 74th minute with the goal at his mercy.

Juventus were also reduced to 10 men as Adrien Rabiot was shown a second yellow for a rash tackle on Antonio Giua in the 86th minute.

Ronaldo thought he had gotten the winner for Juventus in the 92nd minute after he diverted Cuadrado's cross into the net but his effort was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

But with Juventus pilling all the pressure in the closing stage of the game, they got their reward after Ronaldo was tripped inside the six yard box in the 94 minute as referee wasted no time to award a penalty.

The Portuguese star stepped forward and slotted home as Juventus claimed a vital 2-1 win to reclaim top spot in Serie A.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ronaldo's former team Real Madrid defeated relegation threatened Leganes 5-0 in a La Liga encounter held on Wednesday, October 30 at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Zinedine Zidane's men came into the game four points behind League leaders Barcelona who had recorded a comfortable 5-1 victory over Real Valladolid.
