José Mourinho names the best player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

José Mourinho, ex-Man United manager, has added his own voice to the long-running debate among football buffs- who is the greatest between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Special One as Mourinho was fondly called during his days at Stamford Bridge, has been out of work since his sack by the Red Devils in December 2018, but still features as a pundit on beIN SPORTS during his show known as, “On the Touchline with José Mourinho.”

Speaking on the latest edition of On the Touchline, on Wednesday, September 11, the veteran tactician opted to rain praises on the two stars, rather than say one’s better.

"I think they are lucky and unlucky to be in the same generation," he stressed, even as he was quick to add. "They are lucky because they can compete against each other.

Explaining further, the 56-year-old football tactician pointed out that having shared the hour of winning the Ballon d'Or five-time each between them, noting it is now more challenging for other players to keep pace with them.

"Now, I think they have put the bar really high," he explained.

"And you have the players coming behind, who I like to call the 'little monsters.'
