APC governors allegedly call Oshiomhole’s tenure worse in history of party

- Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused party's national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, of being a problem

- The governors claimed Oshiomhole's mode of running the party's affairs led to the APC's election loss in five states of the federation recently

- Salihu Lukman, head of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), accused Oshiomhole of living in denial

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) have written Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the latter is responsible for the party’s declining fortunes.

The reported verdict by the governors comes barely three weeks after the APC expelled Inuwa Abdulkadir, northwest zonal vice chairman of the ruling party.

In a letter by its director-general, Salihu Lukman, to the APC national chairman, the PGF hit Oshiomhole saying his tenure as head of the party is worse than it used to be.

The Guardian reports that in the letter dated August 6, 2019, Lukman said: “As a loyal party member, I have difficulty reconciling the absence of meetings of superior organs given all the challenges the party is going through, warranting the suspension of three serving governors (two of them now senators) and two members of the National Working Committee (NWC).”

According to Lukman, there is hardly any difference between Oshiomole’s management of the party and the way Chief John Odigie-Oyegun handled it during his tenure.

“Instead, things have really got worse and painfully, it would appear, you are in denial of this reality.

"It would appear that the leadership problems facing the party are getting deeper and in the circumstance, the business of building the party will be sacrificed,” he said.

The letter claimed the party’s defeat and loss in the governorship elections in Zamfara, Oyo, Imo, Bauchi, and Adamawa states were the result of internal wrangling allegedly created by Oshiomhole.

It warned that the party could lose in Kogi, Ondo and Edo in their forthcoming elections.

“It is a painful reality that we have found ourselves in a situation of near stalemate in many states under your leadership.

“Embarrassingly, our leaders, including your very self, appear to be stubbornly inconsiderate of other options of resolving these challenges,” the letter added while urging Oshiomhole to allow room for divergent views in proffering solutions to problems.

At the time of this report, there had been no official response from Oshiomhole over the allegations raised.

Legit.ng earlier reported how Senator Lawali Shuaibu, APC's deputy national chairman, demanded for Oshiomhole's resignation.

Addressing Oshiomhole in a six-page letter, Shuaibu opined that in developed nations, leaders who are unable to impact on those they are leading or improve upon antecedent, leave office with honour.
