- Candace Owens in a trending tweet claimed that Nigerians are the most successful ethnic group in the United States; more successful than blacks of over-privileged America

- Owens, however, stated that the success achieved by Nigerians is because they are not exposed to the "Democrat parasite of victimhood!"

Candace Owens, an American conservative commentator and political activist has claimed that Nigerian-Americans are the most successful ethnic group in the United States.

Candace who is known for her pro-Trump activism and her criticism of the Democratic Party made the claim in a viral tweet via her verified Twitter handle, @RealCandaceO, on Wednesday, July 3.

The tweet has generated divergent reactions and heated debates from Nigerians and Americans.

A Nigerian Twitter user, Wale Gates, in response to Owens' tweet, cautioned Nigerians not to jump on the "nonsense talk".

"Nigerians! Please dont jump on this nonsense talk, @RealCandaceO didn't care when Trump called Nigeria "a shithole country" this talking point is used to dismiss the systemic racism that affects African Americans by playing highly educated immigrants against AA," Gates tweeted.

Dr Aloy Chife, @ChifeDr, equally disagreed with Candace.

"Candace,

I’m not sure which ignorant mob you’re feeding with this reductive approach but I must tell you it sounds both unintelligent and ill-informed.

"And I say this as one of those successful Nigerian Americans about whom you speak," he tweeted.

Also, EJ tweeting at @NegansKatt asked for evidence to back up the claim.

The tweet reads: "Citation needed. My father FROM AFRICA disagrees with you..."

Similarly, #ADOS File Grievances tweeting at @AdosGrievances tweeted: "Candace is ignorant. Nigerians are heavily vetted and come here educated. We are not getting poor. They outperform whites and Asians."

However, in her own reaction, Michele Domes corroborated Candace' statement, saying her son-in-law is from Nigeria and "he is the most goal driven man in his age group I have ever met. He is a super positive influence on my daughter and I love him dearly for who he is and how he loves her".

Similarly, Helgi Thor Leja agreed with Owens saying "I worked closely with a few Nigerians years ago.... The happiest, nicest, and HARDEST working people in our company. They requested over-time, worked through scheduled breaks, worked weekends, etc. Just great people who worked for their futures!"
