Ex-finance minister Okonjo-Iweala bags honorary PhD in Israel

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy degree at Tel Aviv University on economic development, poverty alleviation, transparency and inclusion.

Okonjo-Iweala, the economist and Nigeria's former minister of finance, was sighted among the chair board of governors TAU, Jacob Frenkel; president TAU, Joseph Klafter; and fellow honorees including former chair of the federal reserve, Janet Yellen, Chair UBS and former chair ECB and Bundesbank, Axel Weber.

She was said to be discussing the topic with prime minister of Norway, Erna Solberg and the former prime minister of Australia, Julia Gillard.

In another news, the former minister of finance warned Nigerian politicians to desist from using her name for their personal benefits.

Okonjo-Iweala claimed that her words were being edited and distorted by politicians trying to use her name and reputation to advance their objectives.

In a statement signed by her media adviser, Paul Nwabuikwu, the former minister said that fake newspaper articles, quotations and audios were being circulated in her name and that the public should disregard them.
