Robin van Persie, ex Arsenal and Man United star, retires from football at 35

Robin Van Persie who is known as one of the best strikers of his generation has finally hanged his boots from the round leather game on Sunday, May 12.

Van Persie played his final professional game for boyhood club Feyenoord before the former Arsenal and Manchester United star announced his retirement from football.

He scored 144 Premier League goals in 280 appearances making him the highest-scoring player from the Netherlands in English top-flight history.

Persie spent eight years with Arsenal before leaving the Gunners for a move to Manchester United in 2012 where he won the Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And for his country Holland, Robin Van Persie scored 52 goals in 101 senior appearances, before he quit international football.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how former Arsenal and Manchester United star, Robin Van Persie, on Saturday, January 19 proved he still has it with a brilliant free-kick goal while in action for Feyenoord during an Eredivisie clash against PEC Zwolle.

The 35-year-old rolled back the years with an incredible free-kick in the 35th minute to restore parity for his boyhood club.

Feyenoord found themselves a goal behind in the closely-contested match before Van Persie curled the ball to the back of the net.
