Breaking: Buhari leading in 8 out of 16 Kwara local governments as collation continues

- President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly leading in 9 out of 16 local governments in Kwara state

- Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of PDP, was said to have been won in one local government thus far

- The local governments being awaited include Baruten, Edu, Ifelodun, Ilorin south, Ilorin west, Isin, and Kaiama local governments

President Muhammadu Buhari and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly leading across Kwara state as results of Saturday, February 23, presidential election and National Assembly begin to trickle in Sunday evening, February 24.

Premium Times reports that Buhari is edging his closest rival and former Nigeria's vice president, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Legit.ng gathered that from results of nine local governments announced thus far in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, Buhari has won in eight local government area of the state.

His closest rival, Abubakar, has won in one local government thus far. There are 16 local governments in Kwara state.

In Asa local government, results announced thus far showed that the APC polled 15,976 while the PDP polled 10,705. In Oyun local government, the APC polled 11,051 while the PDP polled 4,904.

In Ekiti local government, Buhari polled 6,662 while Abubakar of the PDP polled 5,397.

However, Abubakar’s party won in Oke-Ero local government as the APC polled 6,079 while the PDP polled 6,242.

But in Irepodun local government, the APC resumed its winning streak as it polled 14,395 to beat the PDP which polled 10,232. Similarly, in Moro local government, the APC polled 17,534 while the PDP polled 7,598.

In Ilorin east local government, the APC garnered 31,039 votes while the PDP gathered 12,820 votes.

In Offa local government, the APC won overwhelmingly by polling 23,685 votes while the PDP gathered 4,540. Similarly, in Pategi local government, the APC garnered 14,791 while the PDP gathered 3,493.

Results of other local governments are being awaited. They include Baruten, Edu, Ifelodun, Ilorin south, Ilorin west, Isin, and Kaiama local governments.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara, Razak Atunwa, failed to deliver his Asa local government area in the Saturday, February, presidential and the National Assembly election.
