President Buhari ordered the police and the military to show no mercy to party thugs who try to cart away ballot boxes.

He expressed confidence over the coming polls, saying that he has toured throughout the country to garner support from all the states. He also urged party members to work for the interest of the APC, especially during the elections.

Moreover, President Buhari charged security agencies to both man strategic spots and be alert to take action upon the slightest indications of any sort of mayhem by thugs, irrespective of whatever political parties they belong to.

He slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for postponing the elections at a point in time which he refers to as late.

President Buhari said: “Definitely, INEC must explain to Nigerians what happened, the constitution and the law protects INEC but they must not take us for granted. If we had failed to provide all what INEC wanted, then we would have been held responsible. So at least after the elections we will have to go into details to find out what happened.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other leaders of the APC were said to have convened a crucial meeting at the ruling party’s secretariat in Abuja on Monday, February 18.

The all-important gathering attended by caucus members of the APC is the first meeting of the party after the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly election by the INEC.
