Buhari’s enemies respect him because he is not corrupt - Osinbajo

- Professor Yemi Osinbajo says President Muhammadu Buhari's enemies cannot deny that he is not corrupt

- Osinbajo wants Nigerians to return the president to office for a second term during the election of February 16

- The vice president laments that the Awori area of Ogun state lacks development despite being an industrial hub

If there is one thing supposed enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari know and respect him for, it remains that he is not corrupt, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, his deputy has said ahead of the February 16, 2019 election.

Legit.ng learnt that Osinbajo stated this on Monday, February 4, arguing that the president’s enemies can testify to the latter’s untainted personality.

Daily Trust reports that while urging Nigerians to vote for the president and return him for a second term, Osinbajo urged the citizens of the country not to allow suspected thieves come into government so they do not end up plundering the economy a second time.

Speaking at the palace of the Olota of Ota in Ogun state as part of the campaign ahead of the election, Osinbajo said: “It is not that we don’t have budgetary allocations for all projects, but the problem we have is corruption.

“If you look at our budgets in the last ten years, the government had made provisions for them. For instance, Lagos/Ibadan road and Lagos/Kano railway projects were awarded ten years ago and yet, nothing were done. The contractors that handled them, collected money and did nothing.

“So, let us cast our votes for Buhari for re-election. Even the enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari know that he is not corrupt.

“So, don’t elect thieves to come and plunder the economy of the country again. Because their electoral promises are lies and all they intend to do again is to come back and ruin the economy.”

Osinbajo lamented that a part of the state, the Awori area, was still not developed despite having a number of educated people and being an industrial hub.

In his reaction, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege listed some problems faced by the Awori area of the state.

“Aworiland is accommodating. And we are in both Lagos and Ogun states. I want to seize this occasion to tell you that we have been relegated and which should not be.

“We have massive votes in Aworiland and which ought to translate to political power but rather, we have been marginalised," the monarch reportedly said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Forward with Buhari (FWB), an independent campaign organisation for Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, said that there was no alternative to the president in the coming election.

Senator Lawali Shuaibu, the national coordinator of the organisation, who is also the deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said this in a statement on Monday, February 4, in Abuja.

He said the organisation had however, embarked on an intensive grassroots campaign, across the six geopolitical zones of the country to convince Nigerians on why they should re-elect President Buhari.
