Some residents of Kwaddi village in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state have reportedly lost their lives after suspected armed bandits attacked their village on Tuesday, July 24.
The incident which reportedly claimed the lives of 20 of the residents happened at a mosque during Asr prayer.

Daily Trust reports that the gunmen had earlier invaded the village and killed at least eight people for failing to oblige to a N1 million ransom demanded from the whole community.
“They gave another deadline for the ransom and then left. Most of the residents are peasant farmers and none of them can boast of even N50,000. They came back and struck when people were observing Asr prayer.
“It was raining then, they left the mosque and started a house to house attack killing people in their own houses including those who had escaped the mosque attack,” a resident who craved for anonymity was quoted to have said.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the state police command, Muhammad Sheh.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Zamfara state police public relations officer, Mohammed Shehu confirmed the arrest of 117 persons suspected to be connected with the recent killings in parts of the state.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Shehu said in a statement that the killings are in Gusau, Shinkafi local government areas and other parts of the state.
According to him, the suspects were arrested during a raid carried out by the Special Tactical Squad of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in conjunction with the Command Tactical team on Thursday, July 19, which lasted for several hours.
