2019: APC lawmakers endorse President Buhari

- APC lawmakers from the northwest geopolitical zone endorsed President Buhari's re-election

- The lawmakers said the emergence of President Buhari has brought relative peace to the country

- They also urged the youths in the zone to work towards Buhari’s re-election, noting that with Buhari, their future is assured.

All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers from the northwest geopolitical zone have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 presidency.

The lawmakers from both national and state levels converged in Kaduna for the inauguration of the Northwest Young Serving Parliamentarian in support of Buhari/Osinbajo 2019 local government coordinators in the zone, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathered that the serving lawmakers who attended the event include Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senate Majority Leader, who was represented by Senate Committee Chairman on police affairs, Abu Ibrahim, Senator Jibril Barau(Kano), Senator Adamu Aliero and the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Dogunwa, Samaila Sulaiman, a House of Reps member from Kaduna, speaker of the Kaduna state House of Assembly, Aminu Shagali, speaker of Katsina House of Assembly.

Other attendees are Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, represented by his deputy, Barnabas Bala Yusuf, President Buhari's senior special assistant on National Assembly Matters, Sumaila Kawu and a former governor of Zamfara state, Mahmud Shinkafi.

According to the lawmakers, with the emergence of President Buhari, Nigeria has witnessed relative peace, adding that it was only ideal to allow the president to continue in office till 2023.

They urged the youth in the zone and by extension, Nigeria to assiduously work towards the re-election of Buhari, noting that with Buhari, their future was assured.

A member of the House of Representatives from Kaduna state, Samaila Sulaiman noted that to allow Buhari to return as President would be the best option for the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that President Buhari urged Nigerians to continue to support the fight against corruption to accelerate Nigeria’s development.

Buhari made the call in Abuja on Saturday, July 8, at the presentation of two books by Maj.-Gen Sam Momah rtd, a former minister of science and technology.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the books, Restructuring Nigeria beyond Oil, and Pulling Nigeria off the Brink, were presented to the public to mark the 75th birthday of the author.

Buhari said the author had in his various works recognised the strategic importance of the fight against corruption to sustaining the integrity of Nigeria and ensuring equity, justice and fair play to all.
