Abductors kill NNPC staff in Rivers state

- An NNPC staff, John Iheanacho, has been killed by gunmen in Rivers state

- Iheanacho was murdered by his abductors and buried around Oyigbo LGA

- He was reportedly murdered after paying ransom in foreign currency to his kidnappers

Gunmen believed to be kidnappers have murdered and buried a member of the staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), John Iheanacho, after he reportedly paid them a huge ransom in foreign currency.

Iheanacho was reportedly buried around Oyigbo local government area of Rivers state where his remains was found by men of the Inspector General of Police Intelligent Response Team.

Two of the four suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime, took the IGP Intelligent Response Team headed by Abba Kyari to a forest where they buried their victim in a shallow grave.

Vanguard reports that Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police, disclosed that Samuel Ikechukwu, Alexander a.k.a PILAR, Chima Mark, Stephen Iniobong and Teddy Ifeanyi, were the arrested suspects.

He added that they had collected ransom in dollars from their victim before killing him.

The police public relations officer in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, said confirmed the incident, saying: “I can confirm to you that we have arrested some of the suspects involved in the crime and investigation is ongoing.

“The state police command is after other members of the kidnap gang that killed the NNPC official."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Raphael Jaja, the houseboy of a naval officer who allegedly killed his boss, Lieutenant Abubakar Yusuf and his girlfriend, Lorraine Onye, has confessed to the crime.

Jaja, a native of Opobo-Nkoro local government area, Rivers state confessed that he stabbed Yusuf to death, packed his corpse in a bag and took it to a bush where he set it ablaze because his boss allegedly refused to pay his 15 months’ salary.
