UK appoints new high commissioner to Nigeria

The United Kingdom has appointed Ms Catriona Laing, CB, as its new high commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The development was made public on the UK government’s website, gov.uk, on Wednesday, June 13.

Legit.ng notes that Laing is taking over from Paul Arkwright who will be transferring to another diplomatic service appointment.

The new appointee will take up her post in November 2018.

She is married to Clive David Nicholas Bates, and the couple have one daughter.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the United Kingdom reiterated its support for Nigeria's war against corruption which is being spearheaded by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

This was stated by the outgoing British high commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, who commended the Commission’s efforts in ridding the country of corruption.
