Atiku commends Buhari for posthumous award of GCFR to Abiola

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has commended the posthumous Grand Commander of the Federal Republic award bestowed on the late Moshood Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The presidential aspirant took to his twitter page to express his commendation. He described Abiola as a friend and close ally when he was alive and said the honour was deserved.

He wrote: “I rejoice with the Abiola family over the recognition bestowed on its late patriarch, Chief MKO Abiola; my friend & political ally & acclaimed winner of June 12 1993 elections, better known as June 12. The symbolic honor done his memory & the struggle he died for is commendable.”

Meanwhile, the Borno Elders Forum applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 as Nigeria’s democracy Day.

The elders said the president’s courage in making the decision has defined all the narratives.

Daily Trsut reports that this was contained in a statement signed by Ambassador Usman Gaji Galtimari, the chairman of the forum.
