PDP BOT chair reveals what Atiku must do ahead of 2019

- The chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees has warned Atiku to tighten his belt ahead of 2019

- The BOT chair said all party's candidate from the north are strong politicians

- He advised Atiku to subject himself to all the constitutional instruments of the party

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to tighten his belt and subject himself to all constitutional instrument of the party to get presidential ticket in 2019.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that Atiku decamped from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, November 25, and there have been speculations that the former vice president would return to PDP.

In an interview with Premium Times, the chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Walid Jibrin, warned that Atiku has a lot of potential opponent gunning to be PDP's candidate in 2019.

Jibrin said: “Atiku must subject himself to all the constitutional instruments of the party, if he really wants to be president.”

Jibrin said most of the presidential hopefuls that have expressed their intention since the party ‘zoned’ its presidential ticket to the north are political heavyweights and Atiku would have to contend with them.

"All our candidates are very strong and the former vice-president is going to meet some interesting challengers," Jibrin added.

Among those who have shown interest in running under the umbrella of PDP in 2019 are Sule Lamido and Ibrahim Shekarau.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previosuly reported that a chieftain of APC, Prince Matthew Onyebuchi Agu, has allayed fear that the exit of the former vice president Atiku Abubakar from the ruling party at the centre will pose no threat to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Agu, while speaking to reporters in Enugu on Sunday, November 26, stated that Atiku’s plot to turn the table against the incumbent president in 2019 will be a mirage.
