JAMB begins constructing 500-seat computer based centre in Benin
- A 500-seat computer-based test centre is being built in Benin by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board

Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, November 3, laid the foundation stone for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 500-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Benin.
At the event, Obaseki said the centre would add value to the state’s education sector. It was also said that the state was known for hosting federal government institutions.
“We saw it as our responsibility to our people and the federal government to have a south-south zonal office and a CBT centre in the state and we had to do all within our means to get a land for the project,” he said.

Also, the governor gave assurance of power supply to the centre and construction of access roads to the place in 2018 and commended the federal government for releasing funds for the project, and hailed JAMB for introducing CBT which, he said, had helped to reduce examination malpractice.
According to NAN, the registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, also commended the governor for promptly securing a parcel of land for the centre.
The growing number of candidates sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state capital led to the decision to have a CBT centre in Benin.
He said: “Benin is the seventh in terms of JAMB examination enrolment and 22nd in terms of facilities available for candidates to sit for the examination.
“To solve the facilities need in the state, the Federal Government, is building this CBT Centre in the state."

Meanwhile, JAMB on July 14 released the results of the 2017 university admission supplementary examination that was held on July 1.
The supplementary examination was an avenue created by JAMB to allow late registration candidates for the first exams, and those will related challenges write the partake in this year's exams.
