My father never raised his hand to beat my mother - Actor Yul Edochie (videos)

In recent times the issue of domestic violence has been on the rise as women keep getting battered for one reason or the other.

Speaking against this menace is Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. He took to his Instagram handle on Wednesday, May 31, to post a video saying that he has never supported the beating of women from men but urged women to respect their husbands.

Yul Edochie said: “I have heard a lot about domestic violence this days and I do not support it and will never because a man should not hit a woman. At the same time women also have a very big role to play so that this won’t happen and that is respect. Respect your husband no matter what because we are Africans and things are quite different around here just respect him even if he does not know what he is doing.”

Yul Edochie did not stop there but further disclosed that his father who is also a veteran in the movie industry, Pete Edochie never raised his hand to hit his mother. He said:

My father never raised his hand to hit my mother not because he is a gentleman but my mom always knew when to zip up. She respects my father a lot. They had a lot of arguments which is normal for couples to have arguments but I noticed something, in the midst of all their arguments anytime my father’s voice goes up my mom’s voice goes down and the man will pick his keys and leave.”
