MEXICO FRIENDLY: Why I Dropped Agbim-Keshi
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi has explained why he dropped goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim from the list of invited players for the international friendly against Mexico holding next month.
Keshi had on Wednesday called up 23 players for the friendly holding in Georgia, Atlanta on 5 March which included uncapped trio of Imoh Ezekiel, Ramon Azeez and Michael Ucheb.
Contrary to reports that Agbim would have been dropped because of his not too impressive performance at the just ended 2014 African Nations Championship, CHAN, held in South Africa, coach Keshi said the Warri Wolves goalkeeper was excluded because he needed only two goalkeepers for the Mexico match.
"Agbim is a good goalkeeper and he is still part of the team. He was dropped for the Mexico friendly because we are only playing a single match in the US and I think we can make do with the top two goalkeepers (Austin Ejide and Vincent Enyeama) we have in the team right now," Keshi said in an interview this morning.
The World Cup warm-up match will be played in Georgia Dome and AT&T Stadium in Georgia, Atlanta, and will kick off at 2030 (ET).
The Georgia Dome, one of the largest indoor sporting facilities in the United States, is the primary home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.
