Man United Set to Replace Andre Onana With World Cup-Winning Goalkeeper Ahead of Deadline

  • Manchester United are keen on signing two goalkeepers to replace Cameroonian star Andre Onana before the deadline
  • The Red Devils have failed to field the UEFA Champions League runner-up in any of the Premier League matches this season
  • The 20-time Premier League winners are also in the market for a 23-year-old goalkeeper at Royal Antwerp

Manchester United are desperate to land Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez and Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens.

The Red Devils are planning to get rid of the duo of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir after both goalkeepers fumbled.

Onana contributed to United's woes, including goalkeeping errors during last season's UEFA Europa League matches against Lyon and Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper was in goal during Manchester United's famous exit against Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup.

On the other hand, Bayindir was responsible for Fulham's equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage last week, and when Burnley levelled up 2-2 before Bruno Fernandes' late winner through a penalty in the 90+7 minutes.

United table £40m for Martinez

Manchester United have tabled £40 million for Aston Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez ahead of Monday's deadline.

According to BBC, the Red Devils rejected the offer to sign the World Cup-winning goalkeeper after describing his deal of £200,00 a week as expensive.

Martinez's future is appearing uncertain over the summer at Villa Park. A deal for the World Cup winner is likely to be complicated, with the possibility of Jadon Sancho going the other way raised during informal talks.

The two-time FIFA goalkeeper of the year featured in Aston Villa's 1-0 loss at Brentford last weekend for his first appearance of the season.

The 32-year-old has made a total of 197 Premier League appearances and seems like the best choice for the Red Devils. The goalkeeper is patiently waiting for Manchester United to sanction the deal and make the switch to Old Trafford.

Bayindir is Man United's second option

Manchester United are currently negotiating for the signature of highly-rated Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Seene Lammens for £20million.

According to Sky Sports, the 23-year-old is keen on joining the club after he was left out of Antwerp's last two in the Belgian Pro League.

Turkish champions are also pushing to sign the goalkeeper, and might secure his services if United lands Martinez.

Both potential deals are thought to be complicated given the time left in the window, and there is still a chance United will not sign a goalkeeper before the deadline.
