Arsenal have been runners-up for the last three seasons, but their win at Old Trafford, sealed by a Ricardo Calafiori header, was a strong statement of intent, The Telegraph reports.

Timber, who came on as a second-half substitute against Manchester United, insisted the performance showed Arsenal’s readiness to take the final step.

“With Arteta as our manager, the best times at Arsenal are coming. The culture he has created with his vision of football is bringing Arsenal to new heights,” Timber declared.

His debut season was cut short after a cruciate ligament injury in his very first appearance, but the 23-year-old revealed Arteta’s support was crucial to his recovery and integration.

“Arteta is a top coach. He really improves you as a player and as a person. He pushes you to reach your best,” Timber explained.

The defender says he now feels completely settled at the Emirates and stronger than ever heading into his second season.

For Timber, Arsenal’s growth under Arteta is not just tactical but also cultural, with the manager fostering a family-like environment in the dressing room.

Arsenal’s ambitions for the new season

One key part of Timber’s adjustment has been the friendships he has built within the squad.

The Dutch defender describes Bukayo Saka as one of his closest friends, praising the England star’s role in helping him settle in London.

“Saka has done so much for me since I arrived. We have a very close bond and even spent the summer watching tennis at Wimbledon together,” Timber revealed.

The defender also highlighted his friendship with teammates such as William Saliba, Leandro Trossard, and Calafiori, as well as younger talents like Ethan Nwaneri, Lewis Myles-Skelly, and Thomas Setford.

According to Timber, this mix of experienced players and rising stars has created a talented group ready to push for silverware this season, Daily Express reports.

Arsenal last lifted the Premier League in 2004, but Timber believes the Gunners’ hunger and Arteta’s leadership could finally end that drought.
