According to The Guardian, Arteta has compared the journey to winning the Premier League to digging for gold, insisting that if Arsenal maintain their consistency, the breakthrough will come.

“You keep digging, digging, digging and one day the gold is going to be there,” Arteta said.
“That’s the mentality. For three seasons we’ve had more points than any other team in this league, which is incredible. Now we have to turn that into a title.”

The Gunners have finished second for three consecutive seasons, matching the club’s run between 1998 and 2001, before eventually winning the league in 2002.

With Manchester City and Liverpool dominating the league in recent years, Arteta believes Arsenal’s consistency is proof they are closer than ever to ending their 21-year drought.

Arteta underlined in his press conference that Manchester City have only managed four points more than Arsenal across the past three seasons, underlining just how close the Gunners are to their rivals.

Tough fixtures ahead for Arsenal

Arsenal’s season begins with a stern test starting with their clash with Manchester United.

They face a difficult run of fixtures, including a trip to champions Liverpool in their third match and a home tie against Manchester City in late September.

Arteta, however, views these matches as vital opportunities to prove their title credentials early on.

“Our experience is our weapon,” he explained. “We’ve been there, we’ve challenged, and we’ve fallen short. But every failure builds the strength to succeed. Now, we must turn consistency into the final step.”

The Arsenal boss knows that small details could make the difference between another second-place finish and finally lifting the Premier League trophy.
