Meanwhile, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Tanko Yunusa, has reaffirmed that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi remains committed to the party.

Speaking during the Oyo State Obidient Conference at the Empowerment Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan, Yunusa addressed speculation about Peter Obi’s political future, Punch reports.

He firmly stated that the ex-governor of Anambra State has no plans to leave the Labour Party.

He said:

"For the point of clearance, Mr. Peter Obi is a member of the Labour Party. You know there are still issues in the Labour Party, and INEC is yet to respond to them."

Obi pledges one-term presidency

Legit.ng earlier reported that a former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, disclosed the reason behind Peter Obi’s pledge to serve a single term if elected president in 2027.

Speaking on Trust TV, Dalung clarified that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate’s commitment is not tied to the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC) but is rooted in Obi’s personal conviction about governance.
