As noted by The Athletic, the Swedish forward arrived at the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth €73.5 million, including add-ons, after a long saga with Sporting Lisbon.

He struggled and failed to get on the score sheet during his first two matches for Arsenal, the 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur and the 3-2 loss to Villarreal.

Arteta sends Gyokeres' warning to rivals

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for the Swedish striker after he opened his account with a brilliant header.

“That first goal is always very very important, the way he took it as well, really, really well,” Arteta said as quoted by Hayters TV.
“That’s his nature, his movement, the way he times his runs, the way he predicts the next move and where the space can be and where the ball is going to land, that’s the instinct that he has, that’s why he scored so many goals in the last few seasons, so that’s not a coincidence, it’s his ability and he’s constantly looking for it.”

Arteta sounded a warning to rivals ahead of the new season, not to give his new striker space, otherwise he would destroy them.

“He’s a player that when you leave him with space one against one, he’s going to destroy you, so he’s going to create a lot of space as well for us. He is a player who, in any situation, can score a goal,” he added.

The Gunners have struggled to get over the line in the title race in the past three seasons, and fans have blamed it on a lack of a goal poacher.

Arsenal will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, and the fixture will have extra drama.

Gyokeres, who was Manchester United’s first target, will face his former manager, Ruben Amorim, while Benjamin Sesko, who was Arsenal’s first target, will face the Gunners.

Arteta hopes Gyokeres fires Arsenal to the title, while Amorim needs Sesko to deliver instantly and help the Red Devils improve on last season's finish.
