Liverpool playmaker Thiago Alcantara earned some rare praise from Reds fans after putting up a masterful showing against Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday, March 10.

Jurgen Klopp’s side put their Premier League struggles aside as they brushed aside the German outfit with another 2-0 win in the second leg to advance to the quarter finals 4-0 on aggregate.
The Spain international dominated the middle of the park alongside Brazilian Fabinho and fans were convinced their club have finally found the missing link in the midfield.
One moment of magic for Fabinho in the Leipzig game came when he pulled off an impossible karake-kick pass to Mo Salah but unfortunately the Egyptian failed to convert, instead forcing a save out of Peter Gulacsi.
At the end of the game Thiago was voted in by fans as the man of the match after a series of impressive stats.
He managed 79% pass accuracy and produced four out of four accurate long passes including the audacious through ball to Mo Salah.
It was quite unique to see fans online praise Thiago, who has been accused in the past of stifling Liverpool’s attacks with ‘slow play’.
"But Thiago stifles our play... no other mid in our team nails this pass." One fan said.
"That pass so deserved a goal at the end,” another added.
Jurgen Klopp also hit out at critics of Thiago after the game as he praised the Spaiard for his quality.
"I assume when you all look at Liverpool from Germany, people say it's (the problems) to do with Thiago or whatever - that's rubbish.
"For the players who were new, they always needed time to get used to our game plan but Thiago doesn't have that,” he said
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Liverpool booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane made the difference for the six-time champions.
Liverpool go through to the next stage with a 4-0 aggregate after winning the first leg by the same margin two weeks back.
