Jose Mourinho 'attacks' Ozil after Arsenal star claimed he'd rather retire than join Tottenham

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has taken a cheeky swipe on embattled Arsenal star Mesut Ozil who has claimed he would rather retire than to join Spurs.

The German playmaker has been heavily linked away from the Emirates club outfit and he minced no words when he was asked about joining Tottenham.

During a Q&A session on Monday, January 11, Ozil was asked if he would join Spurs and the German replied: "Easy question. Retire!"

When asked about the comments in a press conference ahead of his side's game against Fulham on Tuesday, Mourinho gave a withering response by simply asking: "Who told him that Tottenham would be interested in signing him?"

Mesut Ozil has played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and has met Lionel Messi several at club and national team level.

And commenting on the GOAT debate, the German midfielder still believes his former teammate still has a slight edge over his fiercest rival.

Ozil was quoted on Twitter: "Messi has proven himself to be one of the best ever in Spain, but Ronaldo was always the best in every country he’s played in!"

Messi has spent his entire career at Camp Nou and has won many trophies for his boyhood club including six Ballon d'Or awards.

His rivalry with Ronaldo became pronounced when the Portuguese left Man United to join Real Madrid in 2009.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has made fresh comments over the future of German outcast Mesut Ozil who has been left out of the Gunners’ squad.

Fans have continued to call for the inclusion of the 32-year-old as more pressure continue to mount on the manager to make a decision on the player.
