Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski ended his eight-year spell with Bayern Munich to force a dream move to Barcelona. The Polish striker joined the Bavarians for free from Borussia Dortmund in 2014 and he had a successful spell that included winning the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, DFB Pokal, German Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA World Cup, FIFA The Best award amongst others. Lewandowski joined Barcelona in a €50 million deal after refusing to renew his contract with Bayern Munich. He would be hoping to have a successful spell with the Catalans.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland made his mark in Borussia Dortmund after joining them from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020. He scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund and bagged the Champions League top scorer prize, Golden Boy Award, and FIFA FIFPro World 11 amongst others in the process.

His stellar performance meant a big money move from Germany was a matter of time as he became one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. This summer, he joined Manchester City in a deal worth €60 million, following the footsteps of his father Alfie Haaland who also represented The Blues.

Gabriel Jesus

Gabriel Jesus drew the curtain on his Manchester City career after failing to establish himself as the main man in Pep Guardiola’s set-up. After joining City in 2017, Jesus enjoyed a successful spell that included winning the Premier League four times, FA Cup and Carabao Cup among others. However, in the last two seasons, he has had to settle for a rotational place in the squad as Guardiola experiments with a strikerless set-up. He joined Arsenal in a deal worth £45 million to further his ambition to score goals.

Paul Pogba

After a topsy-turvy six-year spell with Manchester United, Paul Pogba departed Old Trafford for the second time to rejoin Juventus for free. Pogba never got to endear himself to the United faithfuls and justify his then-world-record £89 million price tag. The French midfielder started his second spell on a high note as he was part of the team that won the Europa League and Carabao Cup double in 2017, but his subsequent seasons were blighted by inconsistent performances, injuries and gimmicks from his late agent Raio Minola.

Christian Eriksen

At the opening match of Euro 2020 between Denmark and Finland in June 2021, Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch. This drew sympathy and prayers from the global football community as many worried that his career may have ended prematurely. His then club, Inter Milan terminated his contract by mutual agreement in November 2021. However, his career got a lifeline when Brentford offered him a six-month contract in January 2022. He defied all odds and played to the end of the season. His fairytale story was not over, after his agreement with Brentford ended, he earned a dream move to Manchester United. We are happy for Eriksen and hope his move to Old Trafford is successful.
