A lady living close to Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, has opened up about what was stolen from the 16 flats in the block during an armed robbery attack.

Somtochukwu, also known as Sommie, died at the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, after a tragic armed robbery attack at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.

The death of the 29-year-old reporter threw Nigerians into mourning, as Arise TV management announced that the police were investigating the case.

Identified on X as @lifegivingsun, the lady stated that she woke up to see four of the armed robbers in her room.

She also listed the items they stole from the 16 flats in the residence, adding that both Sommie and the security officer died.

Her X post read:

“About past 3 am, i woke up stark naked to about 4 armed men who broke down my door & rushed in with matchete & guns. They robbed all 18 flats in my building—cash, electronics, 2 cars (1 being a diplomatic car)—killed 2 people (sommie & a security). still traumatized & in shock."

In another tweet, she clarified that it was 16 apartments involved.

She added:

"To clarify — there were 4 men in my apartment, but about 15 in total robbing the whole building. they split up to move faster."

Another neighbour shares details about robbery

A man who lived close to the Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, opened up about the armed robbery which claimed her life.

He stated that he was the first to be attacked, providing details of the painful incident that threw Nigerians into mourning.
