Popular Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, had announced online that she would be attempting to make history for the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.

The event is set for September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos state.

In an Instagram video by @hildabaci, the popular chef showed herself washing the pot with dishwashing liquid and mops.

The video also showed when she and her mother prayed near the pot before she started washing it.

She captioned the video:

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”

Hilda Baci prepares for jollof rice festival

Hilda Baci had earlier announced that the event, which was originally scheduled to be held at Muri Okunola Park, would now be held at Eko Hotel and Suites.

She opened up about the number of people registered for the event and the reason for the venue change.

Weeks ago, Hilda Baci and her crew test-ran the pot she was going to use for her latest kitchen quest.

On Thursday, she announced that the pot arrived at Eko Hotel by 4 am ahead of the record-breaking event.
