The Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Hon. Yazeed Shehu Danfulani, held a high-level meeting with the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, and the Minister of State for Finance, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, to advance collaboration on agricultural insurance under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The discussions centred on broadening insurance coverage for farmers across the country, improving access to affordable products, and building more robust risk management systems to protect farmers against climate-related shocks, including floods, drought, pests, and disease outbreaks.

Strengthening Institutional Collaboration
A key focus of the meeting was improving coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance and the NAIC, with officials agreeing to position agricultural insurance as a central component of the country's agricultural financing architecture. Participants stressed that bolstering NAIC's institutional capacity would improve service delivery, rebuild confidence in agricultural insurance, and draw greater private sector investment into the sector.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of extending meaningful protection to millions of smallholder farmers, who remain among the most vulnerable to the financial losses caused by crop failure and environmental disruptions.
Danfulani said the outcome of the engagement reflects the Tinubu administration's resolve to build stronger public institutions capable of driving agricultural transformation.
